Hungarian Cultural Day 2017. Fall

Ismerd meg hazádat! Szólít fel Mikusik Árpád zsebkönyvsorozatának tucatnyi tagja. Az ESN SZIE szervezésében azonban már más élményeket vághattak zsebre a külföldi hallgatók. Egy este történéseit, ami alatt közelebb kerültek „új hazájukhoz” – még ha csak fél évig is tart egyeseknek.

Szabó Dóra és Siklósi Enikő főszervezésében közel 60 nemzetközi hallagató foglalta el a Gorka terem ülőhelyeit a gödöllői kampuszon 2017. szeptember 28-án. A lelkes szervezők étellel-itallal várták a kíváncsi nemzetközi hallgatókat, így ha addig nem is tették, akkor itt kipróbálhatták a konyhai hungarikumokat a sajtos pogácsától a pálinkáig. A színpadon a főszervezők mellett több lelkes mentor is kivette a részét a sokszínű előadásokból: a történelmi visszaemlékezések és mai sztereotípiák mellett a magyarokat is megizzasztó nyelvtörőket próbálgatta a publikum, mint a magyarlecke csúcspontja. Szentkuti Alexandra tett mindenkit éhessé a magyar ételekről szóló előadásával, Klézl Erzsébet pedig szomjassá a borokról tartott bemutatójával. Kohut Attila mélyre ásott a magyar hagyományok terén, felfrissítve a hazaiak emlékezetét és néha sokkolva a külföldiekét.

A magyar találmányok hosszú listáját később egy kis játékba is bevonták: az a hallgató, aki a legtöbb találmányt tudta kötni feltalálójához, egy Stühmer Szilvás Betyárral gazdagodott. Érdemes volt tehát figyelni az előadásokon!

A lábakat a nap zárásaként Krisán Eszter mozgatta meg: hagyományos népviseletben lépett parkettre táncpartnerével, Fabók Norberttel, és szóló bemutatójuk után a nagyérdeműt is megtáncoltatták. Senki nem maradt állva, vagy ülve, és fél óra alatt igazi magyaros mozgással ropták a hegedűszóra.

Az ESN SZIE Kultúra Napja talán nem pirosbetűs a naptárakban, de mindenképp egy ünnep az egyetemen a szemeszter során. Mi meg már alig várjuk a következőt…

Get to know your homeland better! Even if it’s temporary…

On September 28, 2017 on Campus Gödöllő an approximately 60 international students have stepped in the Gorka Hall. The program’s main ESN SZIE organisers, Dóra Szabó and Enikő Siklósi greeted the curious students with food and drink: so even the ones who have never tasted any hungaricums before could pay their debts. There was everything on the table a Hungarian could’ve asked for: from cheesy-patties till the inevitable „palinka”. A few eager-minded mentors also joined the stage besides the main organisers, who presented colorful historical retrospections, today-faced stereotypes and tounge breakers that even made the Hungarians sweat as the peak of the grammar lesson. Alexandra Szentkuti made everybody hungry with her presentation of the nation’s famous dishes; then Erzsébet Klézl made us feel thirsty during the introduction to Hungary’s finest wines. Attila Kohut dig deep into traditions refreshening the inlanders’ minds and sometimes shocking outlanders’.

It was also worth it to pay attention to the presentation of the long list of Hungarian inventions: the one, who could connect the most inventions to their inventors, took home a special treat – a Stühmer „Szilvás Betyár” a.k.a. „Plummy Rascal”.

As the closing event of the day, Eszter Krisán moved our feet. Dressed in traditional costume, she stepped on the dancefloor with Norbert Fabók to impress the beholders with their solo folk dance show. After that they made everybody dance: no one stood still nor stayed sitting, and in less than half an hour the whole room moved like true Hungarian ladies and lads to the sound of the violin.

The Cultural Day of ESN SZIE is may not a red-letter day in the calendar, but sure is a kind of celebration during the semester. And we can not wait till the next one…
